The colorful crew of “Suicide Squad” got duller the second weekend in theaters, with audiences hungry for the raunchy animated “Sausage Party.” Warner Bros.’ intensely scrutinized comic-book film broke records last weekend and managed to stay atop the box office, according to studio estimates. Top five grossing movies as of the past weekend are:
v Suicide Squad:” $43.8 million ($58.7 million international).
v Sausage Party: $33.6 million ($2.6 million international).
v Pete’s Dragon: $21.5 million ($5.1 million international).

Gary Allan to play at Stambaugh

Stambaugh Auditorium and K105 will welcome country star Gary Allan in a concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at Stambaugh Auditorium. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.
His most -recent single, “Do You Wish It Was Me?” was released in June 2016. Allan co-wrote and co-produced the song.

A Ribs and R&B Music Festival will include a collection of new toys and school supplies to be donated to the Boys & Girls Club.
The free event is planned from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 28 at the B&O, 530 Mahoning Ave.
There also will be a best-tasting BBQ sauce contest. Participants must provide their own meat and sauce.
