The board of education has approved renewal of an agreement with Liberty Mutual Insurance for a Terrorism Risk Insurance Act commercial package.

The insurance plan has a deductible of $10,000 and protects all of the district’s facilities, vehicles and other equipment in the event of damages.

The district also approved a service agreement with the Mahoning Valley Regional Council of Governments through Aug. 30, 2017, for the Aesop absence management system. This system gives certified staff a more-organized and efficient way to call in sick.

School district Superintendent Dave Janofa said the district paid a start up fee of $1,500.

Also Monday, the board approved Maggie Schuster as kindergarten teacher at Union Elementary, Lisa Havlin as a part-time Spanish teacher, and Sue VanMeter as a part-time Italian teacher for the 2016-17 school year.

The board also approved the supplemental contracts for VanMeter as the adviser of French club, Melanie Brock as junior varsity swim coach and Rachel Emerson as head varsity swim coach.

The board also renewed its contract with Ohio Reading Corp. for $4,000 for an early childhood literacy coach, Nadene Vrabel. Vrabel will return to her second year with 30 hours a week for small group readings at Union elementary during the 2016-17 school year.

The board approved Danielle Argerasas as preschool teacher at North Elementary. It also appointed Lori Posey as interim treasurer beginning Oct. 1.
