College gets $7M for arts, economics, experiential learning

MEADVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Allegheny College in northwestern Pennsylvania has received $7 million in donations from an alum to support arts, economics and experiential learning.

The college announced Monday that 1956 graduate Patricia Bush Tippie and her husband, Henry, recently donated $2 million to the Meadville school and have donated a total of $7 million over the past year.

The latest gift honors Patricia Tippie’s mother, establishing the Eila V. Bush Endowed Professorship in Art.

The couple from Austin, Texas, also donated $2 million to establish the Patricia B. Tippie Endowed Professorship in Economics.

They donated $3 million to create a fund that supports internships and off-campus study opportunities.

The donations support the school’s $200 million fundraising drive.
