Austintown police arrest Youngstown man on drug-related charges


AUSTINTOWN — Township police arrested a Youngstown man on drug-related charges early today, according to a police report. 

Michael Williams, 29, of Fairfax Street, is charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and possession of a schedule-four controlled substance.

He is scheduled to appear in Mahoning County Area Court here Wednesday for arraignment. 

The charges stem from a traffic stop conducted about 1 a.m. on Mahoning Avenue just east of state Route 11, according to a police report. Police reportedly found suspected marijuana, rolling papers and Tramadol pills in the vehicle. Tramadol is an opioid drug used to treat pain. 

Williams also was given verbal warnings for multiple traffic violations, according to the report. 

He was taken to the Mahoning County jail.
