METRO DIGEST || Dillard’s to stay
Other plants affected
LORDSTOWN
The supply chain issue impacting the General Motors Lordstown Assembly Plant also impacts the Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, plant where the Chevrolet Cruze is also produced, and the Detroit-Hamtramck plant, but to a lesser extent, the automaker told The Vindicator on Saturday.
The three plants are the only ones impacted by the unspecified supply chain issue, and are still running production. Friday, the automaker said the 2017 Cruze deliveries from Lordstown would be temporarily suspended because of the unspecified issue.
A scheduled Saturday production also was canceled because of the issue.
Dillard’s to stay at mall
NILES
Dillard’s in Eastwood Mall will remain open “at least through 2017,” according to Cafaro Co. spokesman Joe Bell. Rumors of the store’s closing, apparently started last Monday by store employees who said they had been told that the store would close by year’s end, took the Cafaro Co. by surprise, Bell said. Anthony Cafaro Jr., co-president of the Cafaro Co., which owns the mall, talked last week with Dillard’s management in Little Rock, Ark., and reached an agreement that the store would be kept open at least through next year. Bell would not go into the specifics of Cafaro’s discussion with Dillard’s, but said the mall store does quite well. There are no indications of any distress. He also noted that Dillard’s has a lease with the Cafaro Co. “for quite some time.”

Crash kills one
NEWTON FALLS
A Windham woman was killed in a one-vehicle crash about 6:45 p.m. Saturday on state Route 534 north of state Route 5.
According to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said a preliminary investigation shows 52-year-old Crystal Adamson was southbound on 534 and crashed while trying to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. Oncoming traffic in the northbound lane caused her to lose control, driving off the road, hitting a tree and a utility pole, the OSHP said.
Adamson was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene, WFMJ reported. She was not wearing a seatbelt, the OSHP said.
Thiel virtual tour
Greenville, Pa.
Thiel College has updated its website’s YouVisit virtual campus tour, which showcases facility upgrades. The tour can be viewed at http://bit.ly/tcvirtualtour. More than $1.4 million was spent in campus improvements this summer, including facilities maintenance and campus beautification work. To reflect these changes, three campus stops were added to the virtual tour, and a fourth was updated. Additionally, eight new panoramic views are included. The tour incorporates a narrated walk through campus facilities and grounds.
Panoramas can be accessed at different points through the tour and include both interior and exterior views of campus buildings and outside areas. One new stop is the Kenneth and Marianna Brown Dietrich Honors Institute, on the second floor of Greenville Hall. The supplement showcases the institute’s study and collaboration area. Athletics facilities also are featured and include more detail and a look inside the basketball gymnasium.
The virtual campus tour includes 20 unique stops and more than 35 panoramic 360-degree look-around views.
The additions were implemented in light of multiple campus improvements made since the virtual tour was launched in fall 2013.
Students wishing to come to campus can schedule group or individual visits year-round. Visiting students have the opportunity to sit in on a class, meet with professors and coaches and speak with a personal admission counselor.
