Library to feature book discussion
SALEM
There will be an adult discussion group of the book “Silver Sparrow” by Tayari Jones from 7 to 8 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St.
Open to the public, the discussion is free with no registration required. The book may be borrowed from the library.
“Silver Sparrow,” set in a middle-class neighborhood in Atlanta in the 1980s, revolves around James Witherspoon, a bigamist with two families – a public one and a secret one. The story also includes James’ two daughters, Dana and Chaurisse, and their mothers.
The story has many secrets, and when there are secrets there is truth that will eventually come to light. The book delivers surprises and complexities while covering expectations and fragility.
Stop in or call the library at 330-332-0042 for information.
