Tails of Hope will host a “Country Estate” gathering at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the residence of Sharon George, 222 Line Road.
The event will feature a dinner with hors d’oeuvres, desserts and drinks, as well as lawn games, entertainment from Lyndsey Smith and Soul Distribution, silent and basket auctions and 50-50 and Wagon of Cheer raffles. All proceeds benefit Tails of Hope, a nonprofit collaboration of local animal rescue groups and private citizens that are working to open a low-cost spay and neuter clinic at the Thomas M. O’Brien Animal Care Center in Hermitage, Pa.

Free trip for vets
YOUNGSTOWN
The Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission is offering a free bus trip Friday for veterans wishing to attend the annual D-Day re-enactment in Conneaut, where the Lake Erie coast is strikingly similar to that of Normandy. A box lunch and cold refreshments will be provided. The chartered bus will leave from and return to commission offices at Oakhill Renaissance Place, 345 Oak Hill Ave. For reservations and information, call 330-740-2450. Seventeen people have registered so far, and the bus seats 55.
