Police seek info on missing woman

YOUNGSTOWN

Police are seeking information on a missing 57-year-old woman.

Detectives are searching for Sheila Leach, who is missing from a 248 Broadway Ave. group home.

Leach is black, 5 feet 1 inch tall, and weighs 130 pounds. She was last seen in the company of a man.

Man shot in hip

YOUNGSTOWN

Police are investigating after a man was shot in the hip late Thursday.

Police were called about 10:50 p.m. to a home in the 400 block of Ferndale Avenue on the South Side where witnesses said they drove past an SUV parked on the street with several people inside, heard a gunshot, then looked back to the see the SUV driving away and someone jump into a waiting car, which also drove off.

A few moments later, a 34-year-old man pulled into the emergency room parking lot of St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with a gunshot wound, reports said. Police were not able to talk to the man as he was being treated. His wound was not considered life- threatening, reports said.

Multiple charges

A woman who told police Thursday she drank five bottles of wine and smoked crack before being found in a car at Zedaker Street and East Philadelphia Avenue on the South Side also kicked a paramedic, reports said.

Kathy Ludt, 47, of South Avenue, was booked into the Mahoning County jail on charges of operating a vehicle impaired, driving under suspension and obstructing official business.

Reports said police were called about 3:35 p.m. for reports of a woman in a car yelling at people and found Ludt. Reports said she appeared very drunk, had a hard time standing and battled with a paramedic when they tried to place her on a gurney so she could be taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for treatment.

Ludt was taken to the jail after she was examined at the hospital.

Facing drug charges

YOUNGSTOWN

Police arrested a South Side woman on drug charges Thursday afternoon after police served a search warrant at her home.

Shanetta Sly, 35, of East Florida Avenue, is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers with the vice squad and Community Police Unit served a search warrant at her home about 5:50 p.m. investigating drug activity.

Reports said police found two bags of suspected crack cocaine, two bags of suspected marijuana, two magazines of ammunition and a digital scale.
