YSU awaiting additional details on Trump visit
YOUNGSTOWN
Youngstown State University officials hope to learn more this afternoon about Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s Monday visit to campus.
“We’re here answering their questions and doing what we can,” said Shannon Tirone, associate vice president for university relations. “Just as we’re happy to be hosting Trump, we’re putting feelers out there to be able to host Clinton as well.”
YSU officials first got word Monday evening that the Trump campaign was considering a campaign stop on campus but that wasn’t confirmed until Thursday when a campaign official visited campus.
Officials are in what Tirone called a “holding pattern” regarding additional details and expect to get more information this afternoon.
Trump’s visit is set for 2 p.m. in the Kilcawley Center Chestnut Room. The campain is planning for 500 people. The Chestnut Room’s capacity is 750, Tirone said.
