Poland library welcomed Bob Walls from Stevens Puppets to perform “Aladdin” with his marionettes on July 26.
Before the show began, Walls talked about his life and the history of Stevens Puppets and the marionettes.
“This year, 2016, is our 83rd year of doing this type of puppet show at schools and libraries all across the country,” said Walls.
The show used prerecorded voices that Zan and Dan Raynor, the current owners of Stevens Puppets, and their family recorded. There were some parts throughout the presentation that Wells would add in a sound effect or a few words of his own to make it funny. Wells handled all of the marionettes on his own, he didn’t have any help behind the scenes.
When the show ended, Walls introduced each marionette and brought out the magician and the genie for the children to see up close. Walls explained how the marionettes were made to be controlled with just a few strings and a small, wooden structure.
Walls hosted a question and answer session before the children left. There were questions about the presentation, about the marionettes and several others.
