Video: Woman uses foot to drive, holds phone with both hands
PHILADELPHIA
A woman was driving along a Philadelphia highway with her foot while she had two hands and both eyes on her phone, and the couple who recorded her hope releasing a video of her actions will save lives.
WPVI-TV reported that Sarah and Shawn Delong shared video that Sarah took from the passenger seat as they drove alongside the woman on Interstate 76, which cuts through downtown.
The Delongs followed her for about 20 minutes – even honking at one point – and say she continued driving with her left foot and swerving on the highway.
Sarah Delong said she screamed, “Get off your phone!” But the driver just smirked and continued using the device.
She said she got the license plate number and called police.
Cemetery owners sue to bar families from visiting
READING, Pa.
The owners of a Pennsylvania cemetery are trying to prevent the relatives of those buried there from visiting the graves.
The Reading Eagle reported that a company owned by Paul and Jean Dovin filed a lawsuit in county court Monday that says the advertisement for the property failed to inform them the cemetery was active and people were still being buried there.
Relatives say the owners have threatened to call police if they visit loved ones and have warned them that flowers and flags placed on the graves will be removed.
The couple bought the property, known locally as Rock Cemetery, in 2010. The cemetery is about 40 miles west of Philadelphia and the site of an 18th-century stone church.
Man finds portable toilet filled with pot
ROGUE RIVER, Ore.
Police in the southern Oregon community of Rogue River say a man walking through a park discovered a portable toilet filled with marijuana plants.
The agency posted a photo on social media Wednesday, saying it’s the largest seizure of pot the department has ever made.
Marijuana grows are common in southern Oregon, which has some of the nation’s best conditions for outdoor cultivation.
Chief Ken Lewis said Thursday that police still don’t know how the pot got there.
