Campbell man faces charges after chase
CAMPBELL
A Campbell man faces several charges after leading police on a car chase that began in Campbell and ended in Liberty.
The chase began when Campbell police tried to stop Raynovich Clifford, 37, for a traffic violation at about 2:30 p.m. on Coitsville Road. The suspect fled, beginning a chase that went through Youngstown’s East Side and ended in the 4000 block of Belmont Avenue in Liberty.
Clifford then fled on foot south on Belmont and was apprehended at about 2:40 p.m. by a police officer and a police dog, according to Campbell Police Chief Drew Rauzan.
A concerned citizen told police they saw the suspect running through a Belmont Avenue yard, police reported.
Liberty police also responded to the incident.
An ambulance arrived on scene to treat the suspect for minor injuries.
Clifford is charged with failing to comply with a police signal, car theft, following too close, reckless operation, driving under suspension or revocation and expired or unlawful license plates. The incident remains under investigation.
