Police nab suspect after car chase through Campbell, Youngstown and Liberty
CAMPBELL — A suspect was apprehended after leading police on a car chase that began in Campbell and ended in Liberty.
Campbell police attempted to stop a man at Coitsville Road for a traffic violation about 2:30 p.m. today, Campbell police Chief Drew Rauzan said.
The suspect instead continued driving, leading police on a chase through Youngstown’s East Side and then north into Liberty.
Police said the suspect stopped his car on Belmont Avenue and fled on foot before being apprehended with the help of a police dog about 2:40 p.m. A concerned citizen told police they saw the suspect running through a Belmont Avenue yard, police report.
Liberty police also responded to the incident.
An ambulance arrived on scene to treat the suspect for minor injuries.
Charges are pending. The incident remains under investigation.
