POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Aug. 3

Menacing: A worker for a Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road store reported having been threatened.

Identity fraud: An Eastbrooke Trail woman found out numerous fraudulent purchases totaling about $3,114 and originating in the Seattle area had been made with her information.

Theft: A Struthers woman reported $330 stolen while in the 2300 block of Parkway Street.

Aug. 5

Identity fraud: A Poland woman discovered her personal information regarding several checking and savings accounts had been used fraudulently.

BOARDMAN

Aug. 5

Arrest: After having answered a disturbance call at a business in the 6100 block of South Avenue, police charged 26-year-old John R. Tinney of Edgewater Drive, Poland, with obstructing official business and disorderly conduct. Tinney continued to yell and cause a disturbance after having twice refused to leave the establishment, a report showed.

Vehicle theft: Authorities charged 19-year-old Andre Edwards of Erie Street, Youngstown, with grand theft after a woman at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital reported her 2008 Nissan Armada had been taken.

Theft by deception: Megan M. Spare of Eddie Street, Youngstown, was booked on misdemeanor warrants charging one count each of theft by deception and receiving stolen property. The 24-year-old woman was accused of stealing 20 video games in April 2015 from Game Stop, 1222 Doral Drive, then selling the stolen goods to another Boardman Game Stop location for cash.

Pursuit: Police reported a motorcyclist led them on a chase after they attempted to pull over the driver near Market Street and Midlothian Boulevard for having violated several traffic laws. The pursuit was called off near Parkcliffe Avenue.

Theft: A man reported a $1,200 gold ring, a wall picture and $125 worth of quarters missing from his Fox Run Court residence.

Drugs: Police at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital took custody of 20-year-old Jordan I. Darby of Sabrina Drive, Boardman, after having responded to someone who was reportedly making suicidal statements. Darby was issued a minor-misdemeanor citation charging marijuana possession, and possible additional drug-related charges were pending.

Theft: Authorities at Boardman Area Court on Market Street booked Shimeah S. Davis of East Boston Avenue, Youngstown, on a theft charge. The 24-year-old Davis was accused of stealing $182 worth of lingerie July 28 from Cirella’s, an intimate-apparel store at 64 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: Gloria J. Samuels, 56, of North Main Street, Poland, was charged with stealing two pairs of earrings and two women’s T-shirts from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: An Applecrest Court man said he loaned his 2004 Chevrolet vehicle to someone who has failed to return it.

Identity fraud: A Youngstown woman at a Kentwood Drive business learned that her debit card had been used to make several unauthorized charges totaling $885.

Menacing: A Willow Drive woman reported having gotten a threatening text message regarding money owed to the sender.

Assault: A woman alleged a manager with a Southern Park Mall restaurant spit in her face, then punched and pushed the accuser after she had gone there on her boyfriend’s behalf.

Auto theft: A manager with Toyota of Youngstown, 8250 Market St., told authorities a 2012 Toyota Highlander vehicle had been bought via fraudulent transactions.

Theft: Kylee N. Hollowell, 18, of East Beaver Street, Mercer, Pa., surrendered on a theft charge related to a July 26 shoplifting situation at Ulta Beauty, 403 Boardman-Poland Road, in which $551 worth of makeup and accessories had been stolen.

Aug. 6

Arrest: Officers responded to two 911 calls pertaining to a possibly intoxicated motorist before charging 57-year-old Michael R. Jones of Bartlett, Ill., with operating a vehicle impaired. Jones’ blood-alcohol content was 0.174, more than double Ohio’s 0.08 legal intoxication limit, a report showed.

Theft: Timothy J. Furgas, 27, of South Avenue, Boardman, was charged in the theft of a bottle of pills from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: Someone removed $3 in change from a vehicle in the 5000 block of Tam-O-Shanter Drive.

Burglary: A Turnberry Drive woman told police she had awoken to someone in her home who struck her in the head. A neighbor drove the victim to St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital for her injury, though it appeared nothing was missing from the residence.

Arrest: Brian A. Hill, 29, of Mathews Road, Boardman, faced a charge of operating a vehicle impaired after authorities responded to a car that was damaged after having struck a curb near Indianola Road. Hill’s blood-alcohol content was 0.329, police alleged.

Theft: A woman reportedly tried to return a stolen $25 T-shirt to Kohl’s.

Criminal damaging: A Columbiana man left a Doral Drive big-box store and saw that someone had tossed eggs at his car.

Menacing: A Lynn Mar Avenue woman said she had received a threatening voice-mail message.

Aug. 7

Counterfeit: A man and a woman in their 40s reportedly used a fake $100 bill in an effort to buy merchandise from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 6600 block of Glendale Avenue was found with three slashed tires. Damage was estimated at $400.

Domestic violence: Keeva L. Pruitt, 31, of Shields Road, Boardman, faced charges of domestic violence and obstructing official business after her husband alleged an intoxicated Pruitt had struck his face and neck during an argument, which left swelling and multiple red marks.

Arrest: After responding to an argument in the 100 block of Shields Road, police arrested 36-year-old Nikkie I. Poole in the 4900 block of Market Street. Poole, of Delaware Street, Youngstown, was wanted on two Youngstown Municipal Court bench warrants charging failure to appear in court.

Aug. 8

Arrest: Justin W. Kahl, 24, of Andover, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired after having been pulled over near Market Street. His blood-alcohol content was 0.152, a report said.

Assault: A woman told officers that a man intentionally bumped into her while they were at a Boardman-Canfield Road fast-food restaurant.

Counterfeit: A woman reportedly bought a $2 food item from a Boardman-Canfield Road gas station with a phony $100 bill.

Theft/drugs: Police charged Ashley M. Buskirk, 29, of Mahoning Avenue, Warren, with theft, receiving stolen property and possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia, as well as 23-year-old Cody M. Kale, same address, with theft and receiving stolen property after $106 worth of clothing was stolen from Kohl’s. Buskirk had a hypodermic needle and a spoon with burn marks and suspected heroin residue; in addition, merchandise thought to have been stolen from several other township stores was recovered, a report stated.

Burglary: To a residence in the 100 block of Griswold Drive after a front storm-door window had been broken. It was unknown, however, if anything was taken.

Theft: A Straley Lane woman reported her son’s $60 bicycle stolen.

Arrest: A traffic stop near Southern Boulevard led to the arrest of Glenn J. Patrick of Helena Avenue, Youngstown, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired. Patrick, 60, had a 0.177 blood-alcohol count, a report showed.

Theft: A woman in her 30s reportedly took $110 worth of clothing from Kohl’s.

Theft: Sarah E. Croskey, 19, of Hammond Park Drive, Wellsville, faced on count each of theft and receiving stolen property after $517 worth of jewelry and makeup was stolen from Kohl’s. Also, Croskey had in her purse items she said a friend had taken from nearby Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road, a report stated.
