Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

Lincoln Avenue between Wick and Fifth avenues closed today for a road-rehabilitation project.

The closure will be for about 120 days.

Detours will be posted, but pedestrian and business access on side streets will be maintained.

The project’s cost is about $1.3 million with $1.2 million of it coming from federal funding.

The project on Lincoln Avenue between Wick Avenue and Hazel Street includes paving, sewer improvements, marked crosswalks, new sidewalk curbs, small pedestrian islands at intersections, installing about 20 parking meters that allow motorists to pay with debit and credit cards and removing parking spaces on the north side of the street.

The road runs through the Youngstown State University campus. The fall semester starts Aug. 24.
