METRO DIGEST || Trumbull open house Sunday
Open house planned
Warren
Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership will host an open house from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at 504 Washington St. NE.
Sales are restricted to owner occupants agreeing to live in the home for three years.
This three-bedroom, one-bathroom Cape Cod is the latest homeownership opportunity available through the Trumbull County Land Bank.
The house has been renovated through the Adopt-A-Home program, which performs renovations on properties owned by the Trumbull County Land Bank within the Garden District, thanks to contributions from Bill Casey of Warren Glass and Paint, Diane Sauer, Trumbull 100 and others. These properties are then listed to owner-occupants at more affordable prices.
The completed renovations include new gutters and downspouts, updated flooring and refinished hardwood floors. The home’s entire interior has been repainted, and all flooring is new.
Paving to start on Creed
HUBBARD
Paving of Creed Street will start Monday. Officials expect the project will last one week and result in lane restrictions, though the road will not close. Hubbard Township and the city of Hubbard are orchestrating the joint project using state grant money.
Mulch purchase OK’d
POLAND
Township trustees approved the purchase of 70,000 pounds of rubber mulch from Ground Smart of Carrollton, Texas, at their meeting Wednesday.
The mocha brown mulch is made of recycled rubber that will replace the wood mulch of the playground in Poland Township Park. Trustees believe it will be safer and cleaner for children.
The township will order the mulch at a cost of $16,400 by the end of the week. It will take four to six weeks to arrive. Republic Services, SDS Excavating Ltd. and volunteers from the township park board will install and replace the mulch for an estimated cost of $4,000 to $6,000.
The project is expected to be completed between September and October.
