Oil spill on Gypsy

LIBERTY

An engine oil spill at 4 p.m. Tuesday that occurred when an 18-wheel tractor-trailer tried to turn north onto the 711 connector shut down a section of Gypsy Lane and the 711 entrance ramp for several hours.

The sharp turn by the truck caused about 10 gallons of oil to spill, which became a bigger mess when several vehicles drove through it, according to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner. Officials said crews used sand and street sweepers to remove the oil from a section of Gypsy from Belmont Avenue to U.S. Route 422.

No injuries were reported.
