BOARDMAN
A couple of men were arraigned in Mahoning County Area Court before Judge Joseph M. Houser on Tuesday on impaired-driving charges.
A bond was set at $8,000 and a preliminary hearing scheduled Aug. 16 for Justin Kahl, 24, of Oak Street, Andover. Township police arrested Kahl, who they said was driving recklessly on Market Street, about 2 a.m. Monday.
When the officer tried to pull him over, he drove away. Police later found Kahl hiding by a house on Hilton Avenue in his car with the headlights turned off. Police said his blood-alcohol content reportedly registered at 0.152, nearly twice the legal state intoxication limit of 0.08.
Kahl also was charged with fleeing and eluding police, his second such violation since 2013.
A hearing was scheduled for Monday for Glenn Patrick, 60, of Helena Avenue, Youngstown, who pleaded not guilty to driving while impaired.
Police arrested Patrick after he ran a red light and nearly hit a police car on Meadowbrook Avenue about 4 a.m. Monday.
When officers asked him the date, he replied, “Saturday.” Police conducted a field-sobriety test, which he failed, and his BAC registered at 0.177.
