Sara Meade, comprehensive health care coordinator for Grace Woods Senior Living, with facilities at 730 Youngstown-Warren Road in Niles and 1166 Benton Road in Salem, recently received her registered nursing degree from Eastern Gateway Community College.

Meade’s duties at Grace Woods include managing and coordinating medical care for all assisted-living residents. To obtain her degree, she completed 47 additional credit hours in a variety of nursing and science classes.

Dental clinic now open

AKRON

Akron Children’s Hospital’s recently opened the Celeste Myers Dental Clinic on the third floor of Akron Children’s Kay Jewelers Pavilion. The full-service pediatric dental clinic provides preventative, diagnostic, therapeutic and restorative oral health services to infants, children and teens. The clinic features eight private exam rooms and is in close proximity to the hospital’s GOJO Outpatient Surgery Center should moderate or deep sedation be required for more- complex cases.

The clinic accepts patients up to 15 with all types of insurance, including Medicaid and regardless of ability to pay, and collaborates with Akron Children’s Locust Pediatric Care Group, a primary care medical practice that cares for children from Akron’s refugee communities and those with complex health care needs. The program director is Dr. Raj Vij. The hospital has plans for the dental clinic to serve as a training facility for general practice and pediatric dental residents.

Sports physicals

Sharon Regional Health System offers low-cost sports physicals for student athletes and student drivers through Sharon Regional’s Corporate Health Services, 295 N. Kerrwood Drive. The physicals include basic height, weight, vital signs, concussion history and several body systems. The cost is $25. Examinations are available Monday through Friday. Appointments are required. Call 724-346-6425. Students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and all PIAA or OHSAA physical packets must be completed prior to appointment.
