Former Gov. Ted Strickland is Portman’s Democratic Party challenger.

Trafficking charge

YOUNGSTOWN

Police said a man who had 13 bags of suspected marijuana on him when they pulled him over for playing loud music was arraigned Monday in municipal court.

Magistrate Anthony Sertick set bond at $5,000 for George Kelly, 30, of Sweetbriar Avenue in Warren, on a charge of trafficking in drugs.

Kelly was pulled over about 11:35 p.m. Friday at Southern Boulevard and East Lucius Avenue after reports said officers on patrol heard loud music coming from his car. Kelly consented to a search of his car, but a plastic bag fell out of his shorts that had the 13 smaller bags of suspected marijuana inside, reports said.

Kelly spent the weekend in Mahoning County jail until his arraignment.
