Wanted man was armed when police nabbed him

YOUNGSTOWN — Police said a man arrested Sunday on a warrant from Kentucky possessed a loaded .40-caliber handgun.

Jose Zayas, 26, was taken to the Mahoning County jail on a charge of carrying concealed weapons.

Officers were called about 7:10 p.m. to a home in the 1400 block of Rosewood Avenue on a tip that Zayas was there and they found him in the backyard, reports said.

The gun was found in his waistband when he was searched, police said.

Reports said the warrant Zeyas is wanted for is for failure to register as a sex offender.
