Organist duo will perform at Stambaugh

Renowned organist duo Elizabeth and Raymond Chenault will come to Stambaugh Auditorium on Sept. 18 for a 4 p.m. concert.

Specializing in works written for four hands and four feet at one pipe organ console, the Chenaults have made great contributions to the organ repertoire through their commissioning, premiering and recording of nearly 60 organ duets.
Their performance will include works such as “Choral [Sonate a Deux]” by Gaston Litaize, “Allegro for Organ Duet” by Phillip Moore, “Shenandoah” by Nicolas White, “Two to Tango” by Melinda Lee Clark, and “Variations on ‘Veni Creator Spiritus’” by David Briggs.
The Chenaults’ duet career began in 1979.
They have since been featured at numerous national and regional conventions of the American Guild of Organists, the Association of Anglican Musicians, the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies, Helzberg Hall, Crystal Cathedral, the Mormon Tabernacle, Washington National Cathedral and many more.
Both natives of Virginia and alumni of Virginia Commonwealth University, the Chenaults became Organists and Choirmasters of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Atlanta in 1975.
They also taught choral music at the Lovett School in Atlanta for 31 years.
