Zarlengas mark 50th anniversary at surprise party

A surprise 50th anniversary party took place on June 25 at Michael Alberini’s Restaurant in Boardman for Louis and Joan Zarlenga of Canfield.

The couple also took a 21-day European cruise and cooking tour on the Mediterranean coastline through Spain, France and the Amalfi coast in Italy. They renewed their vows at St. Columba Cathedral on June 5.

The couple have three children, Bryan (Laura) Zarlenga of Tampa, Fla.; Marla Zarlenga of Rocky River, Ohio; and Audra Zarlenga (Jack Sutte) of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Their grandchildren are Matthew, Maya, Louie, Lucas and Alexander.

The former Joan Navarro and Mr. Zarlenga were married June 25, 1966, at St. Christine Church in Youngstown. The couple are members of St. Michael Church in Canfield.

Mrs. Zarlenga is a Realtor with Burgan Real Estate, and Mr. Zarlenga is a structural engineer and owns a consulting firm, LAZarlenga and Associates. He previously worked as vice president for the Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation.
