Man killed in crash

Johnathan L. Watters, 21, of Youngstown, was killed when a car in which he was a passenger went out of control Saturday while traveling north on Sheridan Road south of Holbrooke Road. The car, driven by Raymond D. Johnson Jr., 21, of Boardman went off the right side of the road, over-corrected and went off the left side and overturned. Watters was ejected from the vehicle, the Canfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred at 6:20 a.m. Johnson was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for minor injuries. The patrol said alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash.

Jumped out of window

YOUNGSTOWN

A Youngstown man was injured while jumping out a second-floor window of an Ellenwood Avenue home off Market Street on the city’s South Side on Saturday afternoon, attempting to escape police serving warrants.

Police would not comment on the incident, which occurred about 5 p.m., but the suspect’s mother said her son ran into her home and then jumped out of the window, injuring his knee.

Other witnesses said the man was captured outside of a nearby burned-out home.
