One woman was cited and another arrested Thursday after a fight on the West Side.

Raeshawna Underwood, 31, of Bouquet Avenue, was arraigned Friday in municipal court via video hookup from the Mahoning County jail before Judge Robert Milich on a charge of discharging a firearm in city limits and possession of marijuana.

Arraigned earlier on a misdemeanor charge of assault was Danyel Minotti, 34, of South Schenley Avenue, who is free on bond after entering a not-guilty plea, also before Judge Robert Milich.

Reports said police were called about 2:25 p.m. Thursday to Underwood’s home for a report of a fight between two women. Before police arrived, Underwood and Minotti were fighting in the driveway, and both women bit each other and struggled over a baseball bat before police arrived.

Underwood went into her home, then fired a shot at Minotti but missed, reports said. Several witnesses told police they heard a gunshot.

Police got permission from the homeowner where Underwood lives to search her home. Inside, police found a .22-caliber revolver and inside the revolver, a spent cartridge was found, reports said.

Police seized the gun and arrested Underwood, who originally was charged with felonious assault. However, that charge was dropped before her arraignment. Reports did not say why Underwood picked up the minor misdemeanor marijuana charge.

With the gun seized from Underwood’s home and four more from a Lauderdale Avenue home later on in the day when a search warrant was served, police have seized 88 guns this year, according to Vindicator files.
