Temporary tax hike
WARREN
Warren Council Finance Committee Chairman Eddie Colbert says the vote Monday on whether to increase the Warren income tax by a half-percent will be for a temporary increase, not a permanent one.
Legislation was added to the agenda Monday for council to vote on legislation that would make the tax last five years.
Colbert said Councilwoman Helen Rucker suggested that after Thursday’s finance committee meeting, and he agreed after thinking it over for part of a day.

He also has a pending probation violation and a 2016 drunken-driving charge. He will have a hearing at 10:15 a.m. Monday on the drunken-driving charge.
Michelle A. Smith, 27, of the James Lane address, also has been charged with misdemeanor falsification in the Youngstown Road case and is due for arraignment Friday.
