Man arraigned after Campbell police say he neglected sickly dog

CAMPBELL

A man was arraigned today in Campbell Municipal Court after police reported he failed to care for a sickly dog.

Ryan Ware, 21, faces misdemeanor charges of cruelty to animals and failure to register a dog.

Police responded to Murray Avenue July 20 and found a lethargic, sickly pit bull puppy on a porch. A police report states the dog was left on the porch without food or water for at least two hours.

The Animal Charity Humane Society took custody of the dog before it was euthanized due to parvovirus.

Ware told police he had been caring for the dog since his sister gave it to him about six days prior. Ware also told officers he believed the dog was sick and had attempted to make it eat food and ingest antibiotics, the police report states.

A judge set Ware’s bond at $200. He will appear 9 a.m. Sept. 6 for a pretrial hearing.
