Free backpacks for schoolchildren Aug. 13 at Covelli Centre

YOUNGSTOWN — Schoolchildren will receive free backpacks from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Covelli Centre downtown. This marks the third year for the backpack giveaway by the partnership of the city, city schools, Youngstown NOW and the Community Initiative to Reduce Violence.

Registration for the backpacks begins at 10 a.m. Aug. 13. All children must be accompanied by an adult to get one of the bags.
