Woman flees after attempting to steal $300 in groceries
LIBERTY — Police are investigating after a manager reported a woman attempted to steal groceries from Giant Eagle on Belmont Avenue Tuesday.
Employees told police the woman wheeled a cart full of groceries worth about $300 without stopping at the cash register to pay. When confronted by employees in the parking lot, the women admitted she did not pay for the groceries, police reported.
The woman then left the groceries in the cart in the parking lot before fleeing north on Belmont Avenue in a white Toyota.
A police report describes the suspect as a white woman who is between 30 and 35 years old.
The store threw away the groceries she left in the parking lot, as is their policy for "stolen" food, according to police report.
