Police caught two people Tuesday wanted on felony warrants.
Eric Brady, 30, of Applecrest Drive in Boardman, was arrested about 2:50 p.m. after reports said he led officers on a foot chase after an officer tried to pull over a car he was driving in the 100 block of East Avondale Avenue for an illegal turn.
Reports said Brady drove the car into a drive, smashed into a fence then ran away on foot before he was caught in the 100 block of Brooklyn Avenue. Reports said another officer who came to help was injured during the foot chase when he stepped on a nail and was taken to a hospital to have his foot examined.
Inside the car Brady was in, police found a loaded .32-caliber handgun and a bag of suspected marijuana. A records check found that Brady was wanted on warrants from Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on charges of trafficking in heroin and trafficking in cocaine.
Brady told police he decided to run because he thought he could “navigate” through the yards, reports said. An ambulance was called for him because he was not used to running, reports said. He was arraigned in municipal court on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana, driving under suspension and obstructing official business. Bond was set at $30,000 by Magistrate Anthony Sertick.
About 7:53 p.m., an officer on patrol on Ravenwood Avenue saw a car pulling out of a drive and stopped so the driver could pull out, reports said. However, the officer noticed the driver, Alexis Evans, 27, of Ravenwood Avenue, was wanted on several warrants so he pulled the car over. Reports did not mention what the warrants are for.
Reports said her car was going to be towed because she was being taken into custody and when it was searched before the tow a pill and a dose of suspected cocaine were found in a cigarette pack. Evans was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine and possession of drugs.
At the Mahoning County jail, reports said corrections officers found 14 more pills in her clothes. She had an additional charge of possession of drugs added as well as a charge of illegal conveyance of prohibited items onto the grounds of a detention facility.
Magistrate Sertick set her bond at $15,000.
