WARREN
Police arrested Amy S. Riley, 35, of Garden Street Northwest, but who also is reportedly homeless, Monday night on Courthouse Square after a woman reported that Riley urinated in front of children playing “Pokemon GO.”
Riley pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Warren Municipal Court to charges of indecent exposure and having an open container of alcoholic beverages, both misdemeanors. She remains in jail in lieu of $1,000 bond.
A Cortland woman told police she was on Courthouse Square about 9 p.m. with her children, who were playing the smartphone game “Pokemon GO,” and Riley was “taunting people” and falling around drunk.
Riley then walked into a well-lit area near the square’s water fountain, pulled her pants down and urinated in front of a lot of children and others, the woman said.
Police found Riley at a picnic table with a can of beer.
Other witnesses also told police Riley had urinated in the park.
Police said last week they had not had any reports of trouble from the hundred or more people that have been coming to Courthouse Square on typical evenings to play the game over the past month.
Riley is named in 31 Warren police calls for service since 2013 and has been booked into the jail 10 times since 2012 for matters involving domestic violence, open containers of alcohol, trespass and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
One of 19 police reports mentioning her says she is homeless and lives in a shed in the downtown area. She also has eported being raped twice in recent years.
Police arrested her on a warrant in May after discovering she and others were drinking behind the log cabin along Mahoning Avenue across from Courthouse Square.
She also was charged with domestic violence in May after a man she has children with said she threatened to kill him on Garden Street. She’s been convicted of open container, domestic violence and trespassing so far in municipal court in 2016.
