Troopers from the Warren Post of the Ohio State Highway patrol have located the vehicle involved in the fatal hit-skip crash that occurred July 30 in Warren.
Troopers have a person of interest involved in the crash, but no charges have been filed. A news release provided no further details.
A representative from the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office has ruled the death of pedestrian Paul A. Rose, 61, of Hazelwood Avenue Southeast, an accident as a result of trauma to his head, chest and leg.
Rose was crossing U.S. Route 422 near Rogers Avenue, not far from his home, about 9:40 p.m., the patrol said.
CARA roundtable

U.S. Sen. Rob Portman will host a roundtable with veterans recovering from drug and alcohol addiction from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. today at Youngstown State University’s Veterans Resource Center, 633 Wick Ave.
Portman, a Republican from the Cincinnati area, will be joined at the private meeting by drug experts to discuss how Comprehensive Addiction & Recovery Act, which he sponsored, expands support for veterans suffering from addiction by authorizing grants for veterans treatment courts, peer-to-peer services and veterans’ assistance programs.
STABLE program

A representative of Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel will give two presentations today concerning STABLE accounts that allow people with disabilities to save and invest money without losing Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability benefit eligibility.
The 90-minute programs will take place at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the lecture hall at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road. Enter through Door 55.
Ohio was the first state to implement these accounts, which are made possible by the federal Achieving a Better Life Experience Act.
The program is sponsored by the Mahoning and Trumbull County boards of developmental disabilities.
Courthouse work

Scaffolding was being erected Tuesday along the Market Street sidewalk in front of the Mahoning County Courthouse in preparation for terra cotta replacement and work on flashings on that side of the building, said James Fortunato, county purchasing director.
The Market Street door will remain the public entrance to the building until later this summer. Then, the public entrance will move to the Front Street door when a crane arrives to lift heavy stones for the rooftop statue pedestal restoration on the Market Street side of the building, he added.
The 105-year-old building’s two-year, $6 million restoration is scheduled for Sept. 30 completion. The project includes return of the copper statues to the rooftop.
