PRESIDENTIAL RACE | Trump slams Clinton, Obama at Fla. rally
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Donald Trump hammered hard on President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and the news media – and had some good things to say about Marco Rubio and Bernie Sanders – at a campaign rally today in Daytona Beach.
The crowd, estimated at 8,000 by Daytona Beach police, cheered “Build the wall!” and “Lock her up!” during Trump’s hourlong speech at the Ocean Center.
The rally came on a day amid reports of growing concerns by prominent Republicans and Trump supporters after Trump’s criticism of the parents of a Muslim Army captain who died in Iraq and his refusal to endorse Speaker Paul Ryan or Sen. John McCain in their primaries.
Despite that, Trump said, “the campaign has never been so well united. I would say we’re the most united we’ve ever been.”
Saying that Clinton’s Supreme Court choices would turn the U.S. into the leftist nation of Venezuela, Trump argued that Republicans and others who may not like him will have to vote for him anyway.
“So the truth is, I tell people, ‘You have no choice but to vote for me, I’m sorry,’ ” Trump said. “[They say], ‘We don’t like you, but …’ But most people like me.”
