Warren Harding's Derek Culver picks WVU

WARREN — Warren Harding basketball standout Derek Culver announced his college choice on Tuesday — West Virginia.

Vindicator reporter Brian Dzenis was there.

Kansas, Florida and UConn also were among the finalists for the 6-foot-9 prep standout.

"WVU coach Bob Huggins was at a lot of my games," Culver said. "(I'm) glad to end a hectic recruiting process."

Huggins is known as an intense coaching presence, which Culver likes.

"I don't need a coach that tells me what I want to hear, I need one that's going to tell me like it is," he said.
