US Sen. Rob Portman hosts veterans roundtable discussion on addiction Wednesday in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN — U.S. Sen. Rob Portman will host a roundtable with veterans recovering from drug and alcohol addiction from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at Youngstown State University’s Veterans Resource Center, 633 Wick Ave.

Portman, a Republican from the Cincinnati area, will be joined at the private meeting by drug experts to discuss how Comprehensive Addiction & Recovery Act, which he sponsored, expands support for veterans suffering from addiction by authorizing grants for veterans treatment courts, peer-to-peer services and veterans’ assistance programs.

The visit is the fourth stop on his seven-city tour across Ohio to highlight CARA.
