Thiel College appoints associate dean

Mary Theresa Hall, Ph.D., professor of English, has been appointed as associate academic dean.

She has served the college for 17 years.

Her duties will be to collaborate with Lynn Franken, Ph.D., vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college, student academic issues, new student registration and orientation and will serve as liaison to the office of admission.

She will participate in new faculty mentoring and oversight of the Thiel Forums and the Student of the Month program.

Hall received a bachelor’s degree in English and secondary certification in English and French from Seton Hill University, a master’s degree in literature from Carnegie Mellon University, and a doctorate from Duquesne University.

She served as faculty chair of Thiel, was chosen as its Distinguished Faculty Scholar in 2002, Professor of the Year in 2003, Distinguished Faculty Service Award in 2006, and Distinguished Teacher Award in 2013. Her work has been published in academic journals and presented at academic conferences.
