Poland softball team wins again
KIRKLAND, WASH.
Poland remains undefeated in the group play stage of the Junior League Softball World Series, downing Rowan, 13-4, on Monday.
Poland took a 5-0 lead in the first inning against the North Carolina team and never trailed. Rowan got as close as 5-3 in the fourth, but Poland responded with a four-run fourth and a four-run seventh to put the game away.
Lauren Sienkiewicz and Jackie Grisdale each went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Sienkiewicz hit two doubles, including a two-run double in the first inning. Pitcher Brooke Bobby threw a complete game, giving up four runs on nine hits while striking out six and walking no one.
Poland continues pool play Tuesday at 8:45 p.m. against Kirkland, the tournament’s host team.
