Husband asks wife for a buck, she gives him 50 cents and violence ensues
YOUNGSTOWN — Reports said a Kenmore Avenue man was arrested late Sunday evening on a domestic violence charge after he argued with his wife over $1.
Reports said police were called about 10:45 p.m. to a home in the 500 block of Kenmore Avenue for a fight and when they arrived they saw a car in the driveway trying to pull out, so the officers pulled in behind the car to block it from leaving.
Reports said a woman came out of the home and told officers her husband, Leon Haskins, 40, returned home drunk with another man and asked her for $1.
When the woman said she did not have a dollar, Haskins became enraged, reports said, and he did not calm down after the woman gave Haskins 50 cents.
According to police, Haskins grabbed the woman by her hair and threw her on the couch, and the woman hit him in the head with a cup to defend herself before the other man grabbed Haskins to stop the attack.
Reports said Haskins appeared intoxicated and told police he would file a federal lawsuit against them. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for a cut before he was booked into the Mahoning County jail.
