Honoring Mary

YOUNGSTOWN

The annual Night to Honor the Blessed Virgin Mary will take place at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St., and at 7 p.m. May 20 at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, 3430 St. Michael Blvd. N.W., Canton.

Bishop George V. Murry will preside at both of these devotional services to honor the Blessed Mother. All are invited to the services that will include scripture readings, a homily, hymns and recitation of the rosary.

Prison ministry

NORTH LIMA

The Gospel Echoes Prison Ministry will have a team at North Lima Mennonite Church at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

This special service will include concert selections, prison ministry testimonials, a multi-media presentation of prison ministry and a short message. A prison chaplain also will be sharing.

The team does prison ministry throughout the country and is led by Glendon and Lorna Bender.

MetroTalks set

YOUNGSTOWN

MetroTalks features speakers from churches in the Mahoning Valley who give rapid-fire teaching and/or testimonies on a subject. An upcoming program focusing on marriage is titled “Dry Bones. Breathing Together.”

The session will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. May 14 at Youngstown Metro Church, 801 Wick Ave. Cost is $10. Snacks and beverages will be provided. No child care will be available.

Retreat set

“Mary, Our Partner in Hope and Prayer” is the theme of a mini retreat planned from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 11 at the Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road.

The mini-retreat will feature quiet time for reflection with Mary’s Magnificat as the focus. Facilitator Eileen W. Novotny of the center staff will lead the group in meditation.

The gathering will begin in the center and move to the Motherhouse Chapel.
