YOUNGSTOWN

The Office of Pro-Life, Marriage and Family Life of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown is offering “The Catholic’s Divorce Survival Guide,” a DVD-based series that includes Catholic experts on relationships, love, sex, marriage, divorce, annulment and church teachings and the testimony of 12 divorced Catholic men and women. Part I of “The Catholic’s Divorce Survival Guide” is being offered from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays, May 2, 9, 16 and 23, at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 4453 Warren-Sharon Road.

Concert series

NILES

The Steven Family Music concert series continues at Pleasant Valley Church, 2055 Pleasant Valley Road, at 7 p.m. Thursday with guest group, Triumphant Quartet. The Stevens Family of Warren has been in music ministry since 1985. They have completed many recordings, which showcase their Christ-centered and family-oriented song writing.

Cost is $10 at the door, and children 12 and younger are free. A free-will offering will be taken.

Women of Worship

YOUNGSTOWN

Women of Worship Ministry will present a luncheon at 11 a.m. May 14 at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church 646 Lakewood Ave. on the theme, “The Power of Intercession.” Speaker will be minister Sandra Miles and soloist, Angela McCoy.

Blessing of animals

BOARDMAN

St. James’ Episcopal Church, 7640 Glenwood Ave., will conduct its annual blessing of animals at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

This marks Rogation Sunday, the sixth Sunday after Easter, a traditional time to give thanks for God’s creation.

All animals are welcome. For the safety of all, dogs must be on leashes, cats in carriers, etc. Owners of animals who do not travel well are welcome to bring photos of their pets to be blessed. Each animal will receive an individual blessing from the Rev. Shawn Dickerson, deacon-in-charge, and the Rev. John Wigle, retired priest associate. Treats for people and animals will be served.

Program planned

YOUNGSTOWN

A lifelong learning program at 1216 Park Vista, Fifth Ave., is planned for 9:30 a.m. May 10 with a lecture by Dr. Agnes Martinko and documentary film narrated by Robin Williams. At 6:30 p.m. May 11 during the Transcendental Group in the North Lounge, a film on St. Damien of Molokai, a priest in Hawaii who was afflicted with leprosy, will be shown. It stars Peter O’Toole, Kris Kristofferson, Sam Neill and David Winhem.

Pastor anniversary

The seventh anniversary of the Rev. Carl Anderson, pastor of Greater Liberty Baptist Church, 66 10th St., and his wife, Sharon, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Sunday. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Gary Brown of Rehova Temple Church, Erie, Pa.

Gospel music

YOUNGSTOWN

Church of the Nazarene will present a Gospel music night at 7 p.m. Friday at New Covenant Worship Center, 1900 Canfield Road, featuring the Dixie Melody Boys.

Jewish/Christian

LIBERTY

Jewish/Christian Studies/North will focus on mysticism in the Kabbalah and Gematria traditions during a program Wednesday at Temple El Emeth, 3970 Logan Way.

The group gathers at 12:30 p.m. with the study at 1.
