v “Church Basement Ladies,” 7:30 p.m.: A warm musical comedy that might remind you of some of the folks in the kitchen at your church ($15, $11 for seniors, students) at Salem Community Theater, 490 E. State St., Salem; 330-332-9688.

v Tribute to Prince, 8 p.m.: Sting Ray Brooks, Frankie B and Youngstown’s Total Package Band will play the music of the late, great Prince ($5) at Club Pandora, 169 S. Four Mile Run Road, Austintown.

“W. Kamau Bell: SEMI-PROMINENT NEGRO” (10 P.M., SHOWTIME): In this new stand-up special – shot in Brooklyn and directed by Morgan Spurlock – the comedian who specializes in sociopolitical material riffs on subjects ranging from gentrification and marriage equality to raising his family in a post-Obama nation.

Artists will open studios for sale

YOUNGSTOWN

Artists of the Mahoning Commons and friends will present a spring open studio and sale this weekend. Visitors can watch the artists work and browse their wares in the Ward Bakery Building, 1024 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown (across from the U-Haul building) on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Available for purchase will be paintings, jewelry, sculpture, pottery, fiber art, glass, soap, mixed media, drawings, prints, photography and custom woodwork. On Saturday only, Lit Youngstown, Extending Grace, Flutterby Books and the Cranky Pressman will present readings, book signings and music on the loading dock.
