Singing bout reveals finalists

The Kids First Theater Initiative has announced the final contestants in the Mahoning Valley Singing Star Jr. competition, which will be Saturday at 6 p.m. at Trinity Fellowship Church, 4749 South Ave.

Local cabaret and theater performers Mary Jo Maluso and Rick Blackson will be the judges, and Brendan Byers and Ellen Kawana Reed will host the show.

Mahoning Valley Singing Star Jr. is a fundraiser for Kids First, and will help fund a summer theater camp for children.

In August, Kids First will have auditions for “Wizard of Oz,” to be produced in October, and all contestants in the singing competition or the summer camp will automatically get a spot.
