Zoning change

Zoning change

AUSTINTOWN

The Mahoning County Planning Commission approved a request to rezone 1,019 parcels on the southern end of the Wickliffe area in Austintown from multifamily and business zones to single-family zoning.

Darren Crivelli, Austintown Township zoning inspector, said the zoning department has been working on these changes for years in an attempt to keep the residential area family-friendly.

The request will just ensure future development in the area will include only single-family homes – existing dwellings will remain unaffected, he said. A list of the rezoned parcels can be found at the zoning office, 90 Westchester Drive.

A judge set his bond at 10 percent of $500,000 or $50,000. If he makes bond, he is under house arrest. If he doesn’t, he will remain in the county jail.

Officers responded about 2 a.m. last Thursday to a Holly Drive apartment. Police reported hearing a woman screaming and seeing King grab her near her neck.
