Attempted break-in reported at South Side home

YOUNGSTOWN — Reports said two men tried to force their way into a home in the 3200 block of Powers Way about 10:55 p.m. Tuesday.

An officer on patrol was flagged down by a woman who said she answered a knock on her door and two men outside demanded money and tried to force their way inside. Reports said a man inside the home was awakened and chased the two men.

The man told police he heard a gunshot as he followed the two men to Neilson Avenue but he lost sight of them.
