Warren man gets 5 years for brawl that broke victim's skull

WARREN — Joshua Wauer, 30, of Bonnie Brae Avenue Northeast was sentenced to five years in prison this morning for charges related to an early-morning confrontation in downtown Hubbard that left one man with a fractured skull.

Wauer was convicted at trial early this month of felonious assault, robbery, tampering with evidence, misdemeanor assault and driving under a suspension for drunken driving.

Testimony in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court indicated that Wauer confronted two men in a car at 2:30 a.m. on June 21, 2015 on North Main Street after one of them made a remark about Wauer's girlfriend.

Wauer then assaulted both men and also knocked James McIntyre of Hubbard to the street with a single punch, causing McIntyre to suffer a fractured skull.

Wauer left the scene after taking the cell phone from a woman trying to photograph Wauer's license plate, the woman testified.
