Poland 8, Canfield 6

CANFIELD

The Bulldogs (14-2, 7-0 All-American Conference Red) scored six runs in the third inning to seize control. Nick Petrolla and Tony Chiara each had two hits. Dan Klase hit a two-run double while Jared Burkett scored twice. Donald Drummond drove in two runs. Klase (4-0) was the winning pitcher and Mike Maillis earned the save. For the Cardinals, Pete Hernandez doubled twice and drove in three runs. Luke Kelty had two hits and Spencer Woolley had two hits and scored twice.

Boardman 9, Warren Harding 0

WARREN

Winning pitcher Hudson Widrig (5-0) tossed a four-hitter, striking out seven and walking none for the Spartans (10-7, 6-0 AAC Red). Alex Cardona hit two doubles and scored three runs. Lou Cardona, Travis Jones and Drew Wagner each had two hits including a double. Antonio Walker also had two hits.

Austintown Fitch 11, Howland 1, 6 innings

AUSTINTOWN

The Tigers couldn’t touch Fitch starting pitcher Jared Kapturasky who went all six innings, striking out five and walking none. Kapturasky also went 2 for 3 with a run, two RBIs and a triple. Mike Grazier went 3 for 3 with a run and a double for Fitch as well. Frank Rappach had a double and scored the lone run for Howland.

Hubbard 8, Edgewood 6

HUBBARD

Bretty Lopuchovsky clubbed a three-run homer while Colin Shinosky racked up two RBIs on three hits to help propel the Eagles (11-5, 3-4 AAC White) to a home win. Quintin Blair and Tyler Griffin each had two hits and a double for Edgewood (7-8, 4-5 AAC White). Shinosky came on in relief in the sixth to earn the win, finishing the game with two innings of work.

Niles 8, Canton McKinley 0

CANTON

The Red Dragons won the battle of the McKinley schools behind Jaret Johnson’s nine strikeouts in five innings of work. The Bulldogs only managed two hits on the day between Johnson and Corbin Foy, who pitched two innings of no-hit baseball in relief. Garrett Pitts went 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored for Niles.

Campbell 6, Brookfield 5

CAMPBELL

Freshman Mikael Torres’ pinch-hit double drove in two runs during the Red Devils’ four-run sixth inning. Laz Lebron had two hits and scored a run. Darion Jones and Marc Elash each had a hit and scored a run. Winning pitcher Jacob Mistovich relieved Lebron in the sixth inning. For the Warriors, Brandon Fraley struck out seven and allowed one earned run in five-and-two-thirds innings. Brian Hiner had two hits and scored a run.

Crestview 9, United 1

HANOVERTON

Joel Fitzsimmons hit a two-run homer and scored three runs for the Rebels (13-2, 6-0 ITCL Red). Tyler Fitzsimmons had three hits and scored two runs while Devin Turvey’s two hits included a triple and drove in two runs. Michael McDonough tossed a three-hitter, striking out 12. For the Eagles. Colton Antram had two hits.

Southern 6, Lisbon 5

LISBON

McClurg went 3 for 3 with three RBIs and Puliano had two hits and two RBIs as Southern downed Lisbon. Logan Bell led Lisbon (8-7) with two RBIs.

Mathews 13-7, Southington 3-3

SOUTHINGTON

In a continuation from Friday’s game, Jordan Brown finished with the win for Mathews, tossing five innings. Rob Helmick and Mitch Goff each notched three hits for Mathews. Ryan Kay tossed six innings and struck out six to earn the win for the Mustangs in the second game, as Goff, Ian DeGaten and Anthony Oulton all had two hits.

Columbiana 11, Leetonia 0

COLUMBIANA

Columbiana (11-5, 6-1) defeated Leetonia, and with Southern’s win over Lisbon, clinched a share of the ITCL White Division. The two teams will play again tomorrow and a win will give the Clippers its second straight conference title. Jake Clark picked up his third win of the season, pitching a complete-game five-inning shutout. Clark gave up only three hits while striking out eight. Dylan Davin and Mitch Davidson led the way offensively with three hits each.

Springfield 2, South Range 1 8 innings

NEW MIDDLETOWN

In a pitching dual between the Raiders’ Greg Dunham and the Tigers’ Russ Seymour, the Tigers won in walk-off fashion. Seymour pitched eight innings, striking out four, allowing four hits and giving up one run. Dunham pitched seven innings, striking out seven and giving up three hits. Springfield’s Brannon Brungard and Anthony Ugolini scored the Tigers runs and were driven in by Nathan Sommers and Andy Sodergren. Brandon Young led South Range with two hits, while Bryson James had the Raiders’ only RBI.

Lakeview 7, Struthers 3

LAKEVIEW

Brock Sarko knocked in three runs off a double, a single and a sacrifice-fly for Lakeview (4-7). Jake Kriebel also added two hits for the Bulldogs. D.J. Morvay got the win by allowing three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four. Pat Carano hit a double for Struthers and John Medvec gave up five runs on three hits and two walks in three and two-thirds of an inning of work to take the loss.

Girard 3, Liberty 2

GIRARD

Girard (8-9, 7-2 AAC Blue) scored all three of its runs in the sixth inning for a come-from-behind victory. Nick DeGregory had two hits and Austin Claussell had an RBI single. Troy Trombetta pitched all seven innings, striking out six while giving up five hits, a walk and two runs for the Indians. John Griffin had two hits for Liberty (3-11, 2-7 AAC Blue).

LaBrae 4, Newton Falls 3

NEWTON FALLS

LaBrae snatched the victory with three runs in the seventh inning. Jacob Kaschack had two hits and scored two runs and JT Wolke collected two RBIs with a single. George Sprague got the complete-game victory by striking out eight while giving up three runs on 10 hits and two walks. Noah Suarez had one hit for two RBIs and Hayden Sherwood had two hits for Newton Falls.

Western Reserve 9, Lowellville 4

LOWELLVILLE

Jeep DiCioccio was both the winning pitcher and one of the top hitters for Western Reserve. DiCioccio allowed one earned run on four hits and four walks while striking out four. At the plate, he was 2 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and a stolen base. Walker Marlowe had two hits, two stolen bases and scored three runs. Joe Micco and Jake Maszczak each had two hits for Lowellville.

Jackson-Milton 7, Mineral Ridge 3

MINERAL RIDGE

Jackson-Milton pulled ahead for good in the fifth inning after scoring three runs on a two-run error and an RBI-single from Zak Lane. Eric Ostrowski was the Bluejays winning pitcher, striking out nine while allowing three runs on four hits and a walk. Jared Gherardi took the loss for Ridge, giving up as many walks as he did runs with seven while striking out three.

SOFTBALL

Ursuline 2, Steubenville 0

YOUNGSTOWN

In tossing a two-hitter, Jordyn Kenneally retired the first 16 Steubenville batters before Tenia Barker doubled at the Youngstown State softball complex. Kenneally struck out 10 and walked none for the Irish (11-3). Gia Caldrone and Nikki Malkovits each had two hits while Cassandra Hanuschak doubled. McKenzie Shells drove in one run and Adi Quattro scored a run.

Salem 12, Warren Harding 6

SALEM

The Quakers scored seven runs in the first inning. Bailee Thorn’s three hits included a triple. On the mound, Thorn struck out six and walked none. Clara Janofa’s three hits included a double. Katie Moore and Sydney Kline each had two hits. Shaignn Powell had two hits for the Raiders.

Jackson-Milton 6, Mineral Ridge 2

MINERAL RIDGE

Maggie Garland’s three-run home run helped power the Bluejays (6-10) past the Rams (3-7). Sierra Pierce allowed six Mineral Ridge hits, giving up only one earned run and striking our four. Katie Rago had three hits and a double in Jackson-Milton’s fourth win in a row. Macey Garland racked up three hits for the Rams. The teams play again today in North Jackson.

South Range 6, Springfield 0

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Caragyn Yanek was nearly untouchable for the Raiders. She limited Springfield (8-5 2-3 ITCL Red) to three hits and struck out 14 batters while walking none. Morgan Smith had two hits, including a double and Morgan Czopur and Madison Weaver each had two base hits for South Range. Lindsey Druschel had two of Springfield’s three hits, which were all singles.

Cardinal Mooney 8, Canton Central Catholic 7, 8 innings

CANTON

Mooney freshman Brooke Chandler drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the eighth inning to bring home Conchetta Rinaldi, which was ultimately the difference. Rinaldi had four of Mooney’s 14 hits while Bridget Sweeney had three. Rinaldi, Sweeney and Adrianna Popovich all had two RBIs. Sophomore Sydney Shugart pitched all eight innings, allowing seven hits and walking none. The Cardinals play Conneaut today at Field of Dreams at 4:30.

Champion 15, East 0, 5 innings

YOUNGSTOWN

The Golden Flashes (12-4, 7-1 AAC Blue) exploded for a 12-run second inning in a blowout win. Champion pitching limited East to a single hit while Megan Turner, Amber Ricci and McKenzie Zigmont each had three hits. Zigmont had three RBIs while Alayna Fell, Ricci, Carli Swipas and Abby White all had two RBIs. Champion racked up seven doubles in the victory.

Girard 10, Liberty 2

LIBERTY

Karlee Byrne notched 11 strikeouts to pace the Indians (10-6) past Liberty. Byrne also hit two doubles, while Sidney Vukovich doubled and had two RBis, Lorren Alkears had two hits and Sam Bohy and Hannah Jones both doubled.

Howland 9, Austintown Fitch 2

AUSTINTOWN

Hannah Kowach surrendered one earned run on six hits in a complete-game effort as Howland downed Fitch. Mackenzie Maze had three hits, while Gabby Hartzell notched a single, triple and three RBIs. Emily Haggerty doubled and had an RBI for Fitch.

Lakeview 20, Struthers 2

CORTLAND

Lakeview was keyed by a nine-run second inning and finished with 21 hits. Kylee Mann and Cait Kelm each homered, while Avery Steiner had four doubles. Sam Marino and Beady Titus also had three hits apiece for the Bulldogs.

Brookfield 15, Campbell 3 6 innings

CAMPBELL

The Warriors pounded out 10 runs in the third inning en route to a comfortable win. Bailey and Kenzie Drapola went a combined 7 for 7 as Brookfield racked up 16 hits. The Drapolas also each hit a home run while TaeYana Ashley hit a home run as well. Ashley and Bailey Drapola each had three RBIs.

Mathews 14-2, Southington 3-1

SOUTHINGTON

Mathews took care of business in six innings in game one. Lynn Cochran and Nicole Watts each had three hits for the Mustangs, with Watts knocking in two runs. Meredith Grimes had three RBIs off two hits and Olivia Oulten scored four runs. Selena Valentin and McKenzie Schwab each had two hits for Southington. Bailey Hall got the win while Bethany Wilson took the loss. The same two pitchers squared off in game two for a closer contest. Hall made the slim lead stand up by allowing a run on two hits with no walks and two strikeouts. Grimes had an RBI-triple and for Watts, an RBI-single. Wilson gave up five hits and two walks in defeat. Valentin hit a triple for Southington.

Western Reserve 18, Lowellville 6

LOWELLVILLE

The game was 10-6 Western Reserve after the first inning and Blue Devils kept on scoring. Arianna Gregorino hit a home run for the Blue Devils. Maddie Krietzburg had three hits, including a triple and five RBIs. Alexis Miller had four hits and Jenny Stubbs and Sydney Miller each hit a double. In relief, Sydney Miller got the win with 11 strikeouts and three walks. Olivia Sotlar and Isabella Sotlar each hit a double for Lowellville.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Cardinal Mooney 13, Canfield 4

YOUNGSTOWN

Kirsten Joss led Mooney with four goals. Jaime Kempe and Lexy Harmon each had a hat trick. Delaney Reardon, Mia Stana and Asha Robinson each tacked on a goal for Mooney. No stats were reported for Canfield.
