The Mahoning Valley business development network Achievers USA will sponsor a weeklong course on transformational speaking featuring Jonathan Altfeld of the Mastery InSight Institute in Tampa, Fla.

Altfeld is an expert in Neuro-Linguistic Programming – a proven method for influencing others with language and communication.

The course is titled “Speaking Ingeniously” and will take place at the Holiday Inn in Boardman from May 9-13. Class sessions run daily from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Space is limited. For ticketing information, visit achieversusa.com.

Awards luncheon set

HOWLAND

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have an Annual Safety Leadership Awards Luncheon from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 11 at Leo’s Ristorante, 7042 E. Market St.

The Mahoning Valley Safety Council and the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Youngstown Service office will recognize the companies that earned safety awards for the 2015 calendar year.

City Machine Technologies Inc. will announce the winner of the 10th Joan Kovach Safety Leadership Award.

Keynote speaker Atty. Nancy Noall of Weston Hurd LLP will present the proposed exempt-employee threshold provision and what employers can do to prepare for the possible changes coming this January.

Free CCCTC program

LISBON

Columbiana County Career and Technical Center will offer a free seven-week Manufacturing Readiness Program beginning May 16.

The program is valued at $3,000, but free because of grant funding. Only 15 spots are available, so interested parties are encouraged to contact the school immediately.

Program graduates complete interviews with local manufacturers and are prepared to enter the manufacturing field or continue in advanced manufacturing training.

Pa. gambling revenue

HARRISBURG

Gross revenue from gambling at table games in Pennsylvania casinos during March 2016 eclipsed the previous high revenue month and was 11.7 percent higher than March of last year, according to figures released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

The report shows March’s gross table games revenue was $77,914,245 compared with $69,770,440 in revenue produced by casinos during March 2015.
