TORONTO

Troy Tulowitzki hit two solo home runs, Josh Donaldson added a three-run blast and the Blue Jays beat Oakland, snapping the Athletics’ six-game winning streak. J.A. Happ (3-0) allowed three runs and seven hits in seven innings to win his third straight start. The left-hander improved to 4-0 with a 2.95 ERA in eight career games against Oakland.

Yankees 3, Rays 2

NEW YORK

Brett Gardner hit a solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Yankees a victory over Tampa Bay, spoiling the impressive major league debut of Rays top pitching prospect Blake Snell. Gardner singled home the tying run in the seventh and then connected on a 3-1 pitch from Erasmo Ramirez (4-1) two innings later, pointing toward the Yankees’ dugout as he trotted to first base and the ball soared into the second deck in right field.

White Sox 4, Rangers 3, 11 innings

CHICAGO

Slump-ridden Jose Abreu hit an RBI single with one out in the bottom of the 11th inning, leading the White Sox over the Rangers. After Texas tied it in the ninth on Elvis Andrus’ sacrifice fly off David Robertson, the White Sox went on to win for the fourth time in five games.

Nationals 2, Twins 0

WASHINGTON

Tanner Roark struck out a career-high 15 and allowed only two hits over seven innings in a dominating performance that carried the Nationals past the Twins. Roark and a trio of relievers combined to fan 18, the most by Washington since its arrival from Montreal in 2005. Roark (2-2) twice struck out the side and fanned at least two strikeouts in four other innings.

Astros 8, Red Sox 3

HOUSTON

Colby Rasmus hit a tie-breaking grand slam in the fifth inning to lead the Astros to an win over the Red Sox snapped a four-game skid. He drove in a fifth run with a double in Houston’s three-run eighth for his most RBIs since he had six on June 2, 2011. The game was tied a 1-1 and Clay Buchholz (0-2) had retired eight straight before walking Luis Valbuena with no outs in the fifth.

Mets 8, Braves 2

ATLANTA

David Wright hit a two-run double, Steven Matz earned his second straight win and the Mets stayed hot by beating the power-deprived Braves. Neil Walker and Asdrubal Cabrera hit back-to-back home runs in the ninth against right-hander Ryan Weber. The Mets had 15 hits and have homers in eight straight games. Matz (2-1) allowed two runs on nine hits with eight strikeouts in 61/3 innings.

Orioles 8, Royals 3

KANSAS CITY, MO.

Chris Davis homered and had four hits, Manny Machado extended his hitting streak to 16 games and the Orioles beat the Royals. Mark Trumbo had three hits and four RBIs for the Orioles, and Tyler Wilson (1-0) won his first start this season. Davis, who led the majors with 47 home runs last season, hit his sixth homer in the second inning and had an RBI single during the Orioles’ four-run fourth.

Reds 13, Cubs 5

CINCINNATI

Eugenio Suarez and Adam Duvall hit three-run homers in the sixth inning as the Reds finally broke through against the Cubs’ dominant pitching. A victory would have given the Cubs (13-5) their best start since 1907, the year they won the first of their back-to-back World Series titles.

Dodgers 4, Rockies 1

DENVER

Kenta Maeda held Colorado hitless into the sixth inning, A.J. Ellis lined a two-run homer and the Dodgers beat the Rockies. Maeda (3-0) allowed three hits — all in the sixth — no runs and struck out eight in 61/3 innings as the right-hander from Japan lowered his ERA to 0.36. With a wind-up reminiscent of countryman Hideo Nomo, Maeda was cruising along until one out in the sixth when DJ LeMahieu singled for Colorado’s first hit.

Phillies 10, Brewers 6

MILWAUKEE

Maikel Franco hit his third homer in two days, Odubel Herrera homered and reached base five times and the Phillies beat the Brewers. Franco hit his fifth homer and drove in four runs after hitting two homers in a 5-2 win over Milwaukee on Friday night. Phillies right-hander Charlie Morton exited in the second inning after straining his left hamstring running to first on a sacrifice attempt.
