Robbery charge

WARREN

Brad M. Starnes, 34, of Beal Street Northwest, is in the Trumbull County Jail, facing arraignment Monday in Warren Municipal Court on one count of aggravated robbery.

The charge stems from an armed robbery at 5:39 p.m. Wednesday at the Dollar General store, 2800 Parkman Road Northwest.

A clerk said the suspect spent about 45 minutes in the store and borrowed the clerk’s phone once before bringing an item to the register and demanding money. After getting cash, he fled toward the back of the store. Police arrested Starnes early Friday.

Drivers of two vehicles suffered minor injuries and were taken to Warren hospitals after a two-vehicle crash at 2:45 p.m. Friday on state Route 5 near state Route 82, east of the Ohio Turnpike.

A 1996 pickup truck was traveling west on Route 82 in the left lane. A 2015 SUV was eastbound on Route 5 in the left lane. The truck approached stopped traffic in front of it and swerved left of center and went into the eastbound lane.

The pickup truck then struck the SUV head on. Both vehicles came to rest in the center of the road, said the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
