Mahoning and Trumbull rank in SmartAsset study

Mahoning and Trumbull counties recently ranked in SmartAsset’s second-annual study on places with the most inheritance.

The study measures per capita assets transferred, life-insurance payouts, and estate taxes, and compares results across all counties in the country.

Mahoning County ranked fifth in the study and Trumbull County ranked eighth.

Northeast Ohio wants to be smart about growing smart materials expertise and innovation in our region.

Smart materials are materials that have one or more properties that can be significantly changed in a controlled fashion by external stimuli, such as stress, temperature, moisture, or pH.

To make sure Northeast Ohio capitalizes on its strengths in this area, Team NEO and the FlexTech Alliance brought together more than 70 local experts from academia and industry in Kent. The purpose was to encourage the participants to share insights and build alliances to expand regional, national and global leadership in commercialization of a particular area of smart materials: flexible electronics.

Huntington Bank helps build homes

In recognition of its 150 years of community engagement, Huntington Bank announced Friday it will donate $250,000 to Habitat for Humanity International and $150,000 to Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio to support neighborhood-revitalization efforts.

The donation and associated volunteer support will help improve homes with 150 Habitat families in Huntington’s Midwest geography, while championing Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio’s goal of increasing impact within shared local communities.

Huntington colleagues will partner with Habitat for Humanity organizations throughout the company’s communities to support local home improvement projects.

Ohio connects businesses with German buyers

Six Ohio companies will participate in the State of Ohio, Industrial Supply Booth as part of the largest-ever U.S. delegation at Hannover Messe in Germany next week. This event will allow businesses to showcase their products and services to new buyers from around the world.

For the first time in the fair’s history, the U.S. will be the partner country. This opportunity provides more than 390 businesses and organizations in the U.S. delegation to be prominently featured throughout the event.

The Ohio companies attending include: Process Technology, Communica, Accelerant Technologies, Force Robots, Sequent and Monode.
